A donor-advised fund is established through an irrevocable charitable gift. The donor may recommend eligible charitable uses for distributions, subject to the Foundation’s policies and final approval.
A donor-advised fund established with the MLS Foundation allows you to support the areas of Christian education and ministry that matter most to you. Your gift is invested as part of the Foundation’s endowment, creating a lasting source of support for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, its students, and related ministry opportunities.
You may recommend how distributions from your fund are used within the charitable purposes of the MLS Foundation. This offers a meaningful way to involve your family in giving, honor or remember someone special, or support an area of ministry close to your heart.

Yes. A fund may provide a meaningful way to recognize a person, family, or shared commitment to Christian education.
How it Works
- Make an irrevocable charitable gift to establish your named fund.
- Work with the MLS Foundation to document its purpose and your charitable interests.
- Recommend eligible charitable uses for future distributions.
- Allow the remaining balance to stay invested for continued impact.
All recommendations are subject to the Foundation’s governing documents, policies, and final approval by its Board of Directors. The MLS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity and undergoes an annual independent audit as part of its commitment to responsible stewardship and accountability.
